Granulated sugar

An everyday white sugar used in baking, sauces and drinks, dissolving readily when heated and helping baked goods brown and stay moist.

Dissolve it fully in liquid mixtures before boiling to avoid a gritty result, and use exactly the amount specified as sugar also affects a bake's structure.
