Ladyfinger biscuits

Light, dry, finger-shaped sponge biscuits (savoiardi) used as the base layer in tiramisu and other layered desserts.

Dip them briefly in coffee or liqueur rather than soaking, as they absorb liquid quickly and can turn mushy if left too long.
