Vanilla extract

A natural flavouring made by steeping vanilla pods in alcohol, giving warm, sweet, complex vanilla notes to cakes, custards and desserts.

Add it to wet ingredients before mixing so it distributes evenly, and choose pure extract over vanilla essence for a more rounded, natural flavour.
